    Good afternoon Brothers and Sisters,

I find myself feeling heavy hearted entering 2021, we are experiencing difficult times and I felt compelled to address them.

Black Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, Covid 19, Isolation, depression to name a few issues plagued that us in 2020, with great hope that 2021 would be a better year.

Wednesday Jan 6th, we begin a new Chapter, of more the same chaos in 2020.

Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, this simple idea of a government that supports ordinary Americans rather than the wealthy was first articulated by Abraham Lincoln in 1859 and was the system the Republicans first put in place during the Civil War. We have gone so far from that concept that the party lines are now lines of division and turmoil, money and power.

From time to time I am asked about CWA's involvement in politics, and why we support the candidates that we endorse. The reason is simple: the corporations we work for, with their massive corporate PACs, are involved in politics, so CWA has to be involved in politics, too. We support candidates based on their track record of supporting working families and organized labor.

Remember Tom Perez, Labor Secretary in the Obama administration, he stepped into the Verizon strike in 20l6 and was instrumental in CWA achieving a good contract and ending that strike. That is the difference that worker-friendly and union-friendly politicians can make.

This division is the of political party lines…. Not CWA strong lines, we all have a right to believe in whichever candidate you choose. Win or lose, we as a Union move forward TOGETHER to assure the wins we have accomplished don’t get trampled along the way. It’s time to Heal, Solidarity means “unity or agreement of feeling or action, especially among individuals with a common interest; mutual support within a group”.

This local is strong because its members are strong! We look out for one another no matter the circumstances, we take care and support each other in “UNITY”!

    For that I thank you!

Until next time, stay strong, stay healthy and remember you have a support system.
